Gordon Lee Wilcher

Gordon Lee Wilcher was born in a small river town in so. Indiana , crossed the river to the promised land as a teenager and soon discovered music as a way to express himself. Influenced by the music of Motown and such greats as Wilson Pickett, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, B B King, Average White Band, Al Green and many others. Gordy hit the road playing bass guitar and howling his distinctive vocal style with various soul bands. His travels took him to 100′s of venues including colleges, stadiums, clubs , festivals and even a tour of the chitin circuit of Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida.

Retiring from the road after 1000′s of miles and gigs, Gordy relocated back to his home in W. Kentucky and opened a music store. In addition to gigs in the region Gordy also invested in a recording studio and soon found himself recording and producing regional artists. Still active in the regional music scene Gordy has also served on the NAMM Board Of Directors and occasionally can be spotted doing a gig or TV or Radio spot.

“I have known and worked with Mike Connolly for many years. When it comes to bass strings he knows what bass players want and knows how to help us find it. I use MJC Ironworks strings on all my live and studio basses. They have never let me down.”
